If there’s one thing my daughter thrives on, it’s time with mommy.

Do you have a little “quality-timer” in your house?

a free quiz for mommy and daughter

After a night of hot chocolate, painted toenails and green mud mask on smiling faces, all that’s missing is the great conversation. So today I’m launching a 3-Part series of PJ Night quizzes for you to download and print for FREE to do with your daughter.

All you need is a room with no brothers, a couple of pencils, and time to chat. What you’ll get in return is a night she’ll treasure forever.

WOOT! Today is the LAST DAY of our “Valentine 14″!

Congratulations, Mom! You made it! Let me encourage you to continue studying your children. Pay attention to the small things. Write down what they say and do so that you can “prove” you’re watching and listening. Use their own actions to help them grow in Christ. And…keep showing love!

“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8

14 Days of Letter Writing Prompts

Today is day THIRTEEN of our “Valentine 14″!

If you have been with us since the beginning, your children have already received twelve notes of intentional blessings and words of love. Way to go, Mom!

Have you allowed yourself to think of all the ways God could use this in your children’s lives? Could your words bless them and change the trajectory of their paths? Who knows!

Proverbs 18:21 says, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue…”

Thank you for joining me as we choose life and use our tongues to that end.

  • Share with your child ONE WORD that you think best describes them. For example, “Mary, when I think about you, the one word that comes to mind is compassionate. You show this when you…”

The Unofficial Homeschooler’s “Valentine 14″: Day 10

The Unofficial Homeschooler, Jane Graham, Valentine 14, kids activities, Valentine's Day, loving your kids

Welcome to day TEN of our “Valentine 14″!

Today’s prompt is inspired, of all things, by one of the cooking reality shows I enjoy. I’ve been struck time and time again by chefs who break down during interviews and say things like, “I have to win this. I just want my parents to be proud of me. I just want them to accept me.”

It always makes me incredibly sad to see grown adults in tears, still lamenting that they do not feel they’ve made their parents proud. They still long to hear the words and receive that acceptance from mom and dad.

Let’s make sure our kids know that we are proud of the people into which God is molding them!

Today’s Prompt is:

  • Tell your child that you’re proud of them. Say the words and tell them why.

How would hearing these words have changed your life if you had heard them from your parents?

The Unofficial Homeschooler’s “Valentine 14″: Day 8

The Unofficial Homeschooler, Jane Graham, Valentine 14, kids activities, Valentine's Day, loving your kids

Welcome to Day 8 of our “Valentine 14″!  If you’ve been with us since “Day 1,” you’ve already gifted your child with an entire week of love letters!

Today is the “water stand” in your marathon, so to speak. I want to encourage you:

  • …to continue studying your kids. Pay attention to the little things and use those small moments to praise them.
  • …to lavish your “honey” in all sincerity. “Kind words are like honey–sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.” Proverbs 16:24
  • stay away from empty flattery or words that puff up without substance. Resist the urge to compliment falsely in order to increase self-esteem.
  • …to continue putting pen to paper. Not only are you blessing your children with your words, but you are modeling this easy way to encourage and show love!

14 Days of Letter Writing Prompts

Today’s Prompt is:

  • Give an example of a time you’ve “caught” your child blessing others “just because.” Dig back in your memory for a special example that shows that you notice their efforts.
  • For example…Offering a gift because it’s Christmas is expected, but offering a gift in March to a friend who’s sick is unexpected and “just because”. Find those treasure-moments and shine your light on them!

Hey Mom, what’s been the most difficult part of this project for you?
